Optima 4.7 2.5 Petrol.

Hallo zusammen

Hello, i can send you a manual in pdf format if you give me an email address.
Normally, the 4.7 has a diesel heater and hot water will be provided by an electric boiler. Both are installed under the bench. The boiler can only be operated with electric energy 220 V. This is the case at my 4.7 (1998 Model). But in my opinion the boiler is not very practical and i dimounted it. For the little hot water for rinsing you can also use the stove.

Hello Kai
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, a pdf of the manual would be a big help!
My email is. lpsp@icloud.com
Our Truma heater is gas fired, from a separate lpg/butane cylinder.
There appears to be a separate metal insulated water tank underneath the van.
I had to replace the 12v water pump at the weekend, and was very surprised by the (very) hot
Water in the pipes!
Thanks
Lee.

The manual is on the way.
The Truma-Heating was in my mind not an standard equipment, maybe the pre-owner build it on his own, but i'm not sure. Maybe someone else could help or know better about this.

Hello Lee,

I also have an Optima 4.7, although is it powered by 75 kW diesel engine.
The warm water boiler was an option at that time for the Optima and I believe (or pretty sure) that the "standard" option was to have it heated only by using the cooling fluid of the engine as heat exchanger. For sailing boats this is a very common setup (Dehler!). This will ensure hot water for about 24 hours as long as you have been operating the engine. The boiler is filled by the water pump from the fresh water tank. So after a while at a campsite you will not have hot water anymore. A solution is to install a 220V heating element which can be used to warm the boiler when stationary. I have done this by installing an Elgena boiler (10L) with heating element (220V/ 600 W) combined with heating by engine cooling fluid.

Please take care that you empty the boiler, and the entire water system, in freeezing temperatures, otherwise you'll freeze and blow up your boiler.

I'm not aware that a Truma heating was an original heater for a Dehler Optima. Mine came equipped with an Eberspaecher heating (D3L I believe).

Have fun with your Optima :-)

rgrds, Bert

Hi Bert
Many thanks for that, that explains things very well!
Used the van for the first time yesterday, and very impressed with the
Layout and design for such a small space.
Have had to replace the 12v water pump so far (got easily from a marine supply store),
And apart from needing a new leisure battery, everything works very well!
One of the red plastic handles for the front seat rotating mechanism is missing, does anybody know
If trim parts like this are still available?
Thanks again
Lee.
